Brussels With Love 2025

Welcome to Brussels, the heart of Europe for another cozy indoor Winter tournament with your GLTA friends and family! The tournament will take place from 14 to 16 February 2025.

So if you are still looking for a romantic Valentine’s tennis weekend? Then get your entry for Brussels With Love 2025!

Registration will start on Tuesday 5 November 2024 at 19:00 CET.

Matches will start on Friday 14 February at 8:00. The finals are scheduled on Sunday 16 February until approximately 16:00, followed by the prize ceremony. Please make your travelling plans accordingly.

 

Agenda

  • Thursday, 13 February:
    Welcome Party from 19:00 to 22:30 at Tennis Club Panorama
    3 courts will be available for practicing on Thursday evening from 18:00 till 23:00 (on a first come, first served basis)
  • Friday, 14 February:
    1st day of play from 8:00 to 23:00 (approximately)
  • Saturday, 15 February:
    - 2nd day from 8:00 to 20:00 (approximately)
    - From 20:30: players dinner (3 course buffet) at the venue
    - From around 23:00: party on the dancefloor
  • Sunday, 16 February:
    3rd & final day of play from 8:00 followed by the prize ceremony around 16:00 (approximately)

 

Draws and Times

The draws will be available a few days before the start of the tournament.

We strongly recommend that all players be present at the Welcome Party on Thursday evening where the final draws will be announced.

As playing information will be regularly updated, we strongly advise you to check the glta.tournamentsoftware.com website before travelling to the tennis venue.

How to get there?

From Brussels Central Station: Metro 5 to Herrmann Debroux station, followed by either bus (R75, R76, 543 or 547) to Hengstenberg, Overijse or Uber or Taxi.

Please note that the venue is a bit out of the city center and not easily accessible via public transport. We highly recommend to check out the players hotel for accommodation.

Registration will open on Tuesday 5 November 2024 at 19:00 CET.

 

Players fee (singles and/or doubles):

  • First event: €145 (*) including Welcome Party on Thursday, Players dinner & party on Saturday, Tshirt and more surprises
  • Second event: €30 (*)
    (*) BGS members get a reduction when participating in both events
  • If you want to bring your “plus-one” or partner to the Players dinner & party on Saturday 15 February: €45 extra

How to proceed the payment?

First registrations (according to the size of the draw) will receive a purchase confirmation with the payment details from BGS Treasurer <cash@bgs.org> email address (please check your spam box).

Please finalise your payment within 7 days after this confirmation, otherwise you might be put on the waiting list and somebody from the waiting list can get your spot.

Please note that players are responsible for all bank charges for international transfers.

Once you've received the email from BGS Treasurer <cash@bgs.org> asking you to proceed to a bank transfer to a Belgium account:

BRUSSELS WITH LOVE 2025 is a GLTA sanctioned tournament and will be played in accordance with the rules of the Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

BRUSSELS WITH LOVE 2025 is a “Powered by BGS” event and follows the spirit of BGS (Brussels Gay Sports), which means: conviviality, diversity, inclusion & open-mindedness through sport, cultural and leisure activities in an atmosphere of mutual respect and harmony.

By participating in the Brussels With Love tournament, players agree with the tournament rules.

 

Events and Draws

Brussels With Love is thrilled to offer the following draws:

  • SINGLES: Open, A, B, C, and D
  • DOUBLES: Open, A, B, C and D

All draws are Any Gender.

Draw sizes can be changed in order to suit the number of incoming registrations. Events can be cancelled or changed during the registration period. Once registration is closed, some categories can be merged depending on the number of participants per level.

SINGLES: Singles matches will be played best of 3 sets with a tiebreak at 6-6 in the two first sets and a third set super tiebreak (10-point tiebreak with a 2-point difference). All matches are played with Ads.
If you lose the first match, you will be placed automatically in the consolation draw. If you do not intend to play consolation, please inform the tournament desk right after your first-round loss.
The consolation matches will be played as an 8 game pro-set, with a 7-point tiebreak at 8-8.

DOUBLES: matches will also be played best of 3 sets with a tiebreak at 6-6 in the two first sets and a third set super tiebreak (10-point tiebreak with a 2-point difference). All matches are played with Ads. There will be no consolation draws in doubles.
In case you participate in singles and doubles, the level you register in each event can only be one level apart (for example singles in A and doubles in B).
In doubles, pairs must choose the appropriate division based on the level of the strongest player.

If you register after the draw is complete, you will be put on a waiting list and be notified if slots become available.

 

General rules

  • Between matches, a player is allowed a 15-minute break in singles as well as in doubles.
  • Please report to the tournament desk at least 15 minutes before your scheduled match time. In case your match is one of the next on the schedule, please stay close to the tournament desk and be prepared to play.
  • Warm-up is limited to 5 (!) minutes.
  • Please don’t enter any court (even if it appears to be free) without permission from the tournament desk and always enter the court through the appropriate entrance to avoid disturbing other players.
  • Players shall not engage in unsporting conduct or disturb other players.
  • Players are not allowed to receive coaching during a match.
  • Do not enlist the aid of spectators in making line calls.
  • Wait until players on another court have completed a point before returning or retrieving a ball.
  • After the match, please report your result to the tournament desk as you bring back the balls.
  • In case a problematic situation should arise, the tournament organisation will decide how to resolve best the situation.

 

Late arrivals

Late arrivals will incur a penalty in accordance with the GLTA rules starting from the moment the match has been announced (and a court is available). Therefore, it is your responsibility to arrange transportation, get directions if necessary and leave yourself sufficient time to get to the venue.

  • Up to 5 minutes: loss of toss and 1 game;
  • 5 to 10 minutes means: loss of toss and 2 games;
  • 10 to 15 minutes: loss of toss and 3 games;
  • More than 15 minutes: default.

 

Unforeseen delays

In case of unforeseen delays, the tournament organisation may opt for one or more of the following:

  • Matches of the main draw will be played in 8 game pro-set with a 7-point tiebreak at 8-8;
  • Matches will be played with the No-Ad rule (deciding point at deuce. The receiver chooses the side he wants to receive the opponent’s serve);
  • Sets will be shortened to 4 games with a 2-game difference & a tiebreak at 4-4;
  • Consolation rounds will be cancelled.

The tournament organisation decides which option(s) will be played and announces it prior to the match.

 

Balls

All Tennis balls will be used for a maximum of 2 matches.
New balls will also be provided for each final.
After each match balls must be returned to the tournament desk.

 

Prizes

Prizes are awarded to the winner and the runner-up.
In round robin format only the winners will receive a prize.
In the consolation rounds, only the winners are awarded a prize.

 

Waiver of liability

By playing in the BRUSSELS WITH LOVE and participating in related activities and events, participants agree to waive any potential claims against the GLTA, the GLTA officers, the members of the organisation team, the tournament staff and the facilities (Tennis Club Panorama).

Participants agree to participate at their own risk and the above organisations, facilities and individuals will not be responsible for any harm, injury or damage that participants might suffer.

They also release and waive any and all rights to claim damages or remuneration which may arise as a result of references to, photographs or images or likenesses of them which may appear in any publication or other media coverage.
